New Patients

Your first visit, explained.

The practice is accepting new patients. Your first visit establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you — we take your medical history, give you time to get to know your doctor, and verify your insurance benefits in advance. Here is exactly what to expect.

What to Expect

The first visit, step by step.

One doctor sees every patient, so the first appointment is unhurried by design. Being well-prepared helps the doctor provide the best possible care — and takes the anxiety out of a new office.

Call the office.

Call (203) 961-8140 and tell the front desk you are a new patient. If you have dental insurance, share it when you book — benefits are verified for you in advance of treatment, so there are no surprises at the desk.

Share your health history.

At the first visit we obtain the important background information — your medical history, current medications, and any dental concerns. There are no forms to print at home; everything is completed at the office.

Meet Dr. Karidas and be examined.

You will have time to get to know your doctor before anything else happens. Dr. Karidas performs a thorough examination, with digital X-rays as needed — a system that uses 50–70% less radiation than conventional film.

Review the findings and the plan.

Dr. Karidas walks you through what she found and what she recommends. If treatment is needed, you receive a written estimate before anything begins, with insurance benefits already accounted for.

Checklist

What to bring.

A short list. If you are missing something, call ahead and the front desk will tell you whether it matters for your visit.

Insurance card
Most major dental insurances are accepted. Bring your card so benefits can be confirmed against what was verified before your visit.
Photo ID
A driver’s license or other government-issued ID for your patient record.
Medication list
Current medications and dosages, plus any allergies. This is part of the medical history that anchors your care.
Prior records, if you have them
Recent X-rays or records from a previous dentist are helpful but not required — new digital X-rays can be taken in the office.
Your questions
Educate yourself on your symptoms by reviewing the content on this site, and get to know the doctor on the Meet the Doctor page. Bring whatever questions remain.
Our Approach

The mission behind the practice.

Our practice is working together to realize a shared vision of uncompromising excellence in dentistry. To fulfill this mission, we are committed to:

  • Listening to those we are privileged to serve.
  • Earning the trust and respect of patients, profession, and community.
  • Exceeding your expectations.
  • Ensuring a creative, challenging, and compassionate professional environment.
  • Striving for continuous improvement at all levels.

That mission has had one author since 1990. Dr. Karidas is a 1989 graduate of NYU College of Dentistry who completed her residency there in 1990 and opened this practice the same year. Patients have rated the practice 4.9 out of 5 across 21 Google reviews — you can read what they say on the testimonials page.
